I will be needing to take a cab several times from Rosslyn Va to Dupont Circle in DC. I will be traveling after midnight, probably, so using the metro won’t work because I dont think they run after midnight. Any idea how much that fare would be? Thanks!

It’s only about 1.5 miles, so according to this official page (http://dctaxi.dc.gov/dctaxi/frames.asp?doc=/dctaxi/lib/dctaxi/WMATC606.pdf) that would be $5 in a DC cab. If you take a VA cab it might be a bit different. For example, it looks like this Arlington cab company (http://www.bluetop.com/rates.htm) would charge around $5.55. Add a buck or two for tip. In any case, it shouldn’t be more than $7 or $8.

By metro or Bus. I’m coming from Old Bridge Rd & Springwoods Rd.

There is PRTC commuter bus service that might be of use to you.

Another option is to take the Virginia Railway Express train from the Woodbridge station to the Crystal City station, and then take Metro four stations to Rosslyn.

These options are oriented towards weekdays and rush hours. If you’re looking for weekend service, you may be out of luck.

The DaVinci code has no historical basis, it’s a novel that seems to be partly based on the story of Father Sauniere at Rennes Le Chateau, very intriguing an mysterious story, if you do a search for Rennes le Chateau, or Father Sauniere, you will turn up interesting stuff about it, but a good bit of the story does not mesh at all with the DaVinci Code….In the context of the DaVinci code, the holy grail is not a cup, but the cup became a symbol for Mary Magdeline, and for the regenerative principal of women….the rose is associated with Mary Magdeline, and Rosslyn Chapel has rose decorations which supposedly show where Mary Magdeline is buried….

Take Orange Line to Metrocenter
Take Red Line to Union Station
Take MARC Train, Camden Line goes to Camden Station or Penn Line goes to Penn Station – $7.00

At Camden Station, you’re 5 blocks from the Inner Harbor.
At Penn Station, take the Light Rail to downtown Baltimore.

I used to live in Roslin and got married in the chapel 2 years ago. It has now become even more famous because of the release of The Da vinci Code.

Its a nice place but the hype it got because of a small mention in the film is over rated. plus they missed out a lot of the history regarding the designs and carvings. These Templar guys were something else when it came to travel and discovery

The tough part of the equation would be in trying to predict traffic, particularly through Georgetown and over the Key Bridge. I’ve made it from Dupont Metro south exit to Wisconsin Avenue fairly quickly (10-15 minutes) on the circulator and would predict a few minutes more to complete the route to Rosslyn under normal circumstances. In rush hour traffic all bets are off; I fear the travel time could double or possibly triple.

Virginia? How close is it to the main attractions. Is it in a safe area? What are your overall opinions of it? Thanks!

You can walk over Key Bridge to get into Georgetown. It’s not particularly close to most of the tourist attractions of Washington, but there’s easy access from the Metro station in Rosslyn to the museums, etc. Not where I would choose to stay, but it’s a safe area.

The Rosslyn Chapel was built by the Templars. It was mentioned in the Da Vinci Code.
