Need to rent apartment as soon as possible

could try sublet.com, rent.com (has a roommate section), or the biggies if you have reasonable $ – check out websites for the larger apartment management companies (see links in source list.) The Rosslyn/Arlington properties will be listed on their sites. If you have contacts at any of the local universities, a good place to look for affordable, student/intern type rentals are the off-campus housing listings, which are accessible online if you can access their sites. Craigslist is also a good source (link below).

The following are listed on Georgetown University’s off-campus housing listing (link below):

i’ve moved to pittsburgh for a job a few weeks ago, but still haven’t found a great place yet. what are some decent, middle class, neighborhoods that a 28 year old single guy would enjoy living in? i’m looking for a 3 br house, rather than an apt or condo. someone suggested arlington to me. is that a nice area? what about carrick? someone first suggested negley/shady side, but i didn’t think it was very nice when i went there to check it out. i liked mt. washington, but it was a bit hard to get to work downtown from there since the parking near the incline is poor. i was told allentown.arlington had a train within walking distance and that would be ideal for me. can anyone suggest any other place? what are brentwood and greentree like?

i used to live on negley/walnut in shadyside, i LOVED it. close to everything… shoppin, resturants, busses.. i used to ride the bus downtown everyday to work… its a little noisy at night though.

I am living in apartment right now that my background didnt show up when it went through the application process. I am currently on probation right now and will be getting off within the year. I want to move in to another apt complex but am having difficulties with my background.

Try the site below, they don’t have apartments…but good deals on homes and etc. They don’t do a criminal background.

I’m trying to find a job and will be using public transportation. If I’m willing to travel at most 30 minutes, what cities are possibilities?

Arlington’s a big town, so it really depends on where you live in there, but here are some times starting from places in Alexandria:

Alexandria (King Street Metro), on the Blue Line from Rosslyn Metro: 23 minutes
McLean, on the 23A Bus from Ballston Metro: 18 minutes
Falls Church (East Falls Church Metro) on the Orange Line from Rosslyn Metro: 11 Minutes

The Metro really is a nice, quick, and efficient way to get around. Most places in DC itself can easily be reached in under 30 minutes from Rosslyn.

Planning on getting away from Cali and going to move to dallas texas(fort worth, arlington, downtown dallas area)…we have about 10k saved….we are moving without a job and place to stay….i dont think it will be long until we find a job but for now does anyone know of longer term motels? maybe like week to week? how much would they be? we would rather get a apartment but without jobs i dont think that would be possible or?

I believe a friend of mine lived in these apartments. http://www.windscapeapts.net/ They were real cheap. $425 for a 1 bedroom per month. If it isn’t them it is one of the ones off of Mayfield. Neighborhood seemed alright.

The other suggestion is Motel 6 has the studio Hotel off of I-35. I believe there is a kitchen in every room. $32 to $40 a night. http://www.motel6.com/reservations/motel_detail.aspx?num=6035&VID=&NOA=&aYr=&aMo=&aDa=&dYr=&dMo=&dDa=&CP=&TA=&BTR=/AccorMaps/M6ProximityResults.aspx?searchtype=C

There are many, a lot of them revolving around its architecture, which has a lot of pagan and symbolic images carved into a supposedly Christian Church.

The "Apprentice Pillar", or "Prentice Pillar", gets its name from an 18th century legend involving the master mason in charge of the stonework in the chapel and his young apprentice. According to the legend, the master mason did not believe that the apprentice could perform the complicated task of carving the column, without seeing the original which formed the inspiration for the design. The master mason travelled to see the original himself, but upon his return was enraged to find that the upstart apprentice had completed the column anyway. In a fit of jealous anger the mason took up his mallet and struck the apprentice on the head, killing him. As punishment for his crime the master mason’s face was carved into the opposite corner to forever gaze upon his apprentice’s pillar. On the architrave joining the pillar, there is the inscription Forte est vinum fortior est rex fortiores sunt mulieres super omnia vincit veritas: "Wine is strong, a king is stronger, women are stronger still, but truth conquers all".

Among Rosslyn’s many intricate carvings are a sequence of 213 cubes or boxes protruding from pillars and arches with a selection of patterns on them. It is unknown whether these patterns have any particular meaning attached to them — many people have attempted to find information coded into them, but no interpretation has yet proven conclusive.

One recent attempt to make sense of the boxes has been to interpret them as a musical score. The motifs on the boxes somewhat resemble geometric patterns seen in the study of cymatics. The patterns are formed by placing powder upon a flat surface and vibrating the surface at different frequencies. By matching these Chladni patterns with musical notes corresponding to the same frequencies,

Another notable feature of Rosslyn’s architecture is the presence of ‘Green Men’. These are carvings of human faces with greenery all around them, often growing out of their mouths. They are commonly thought to be a symbol of rebirth or fertility, pre-Christian in origin. In Rosslyn they are found in all areas of the chapel, with one excellent example in the Lady Chapel, between the two middle altars of the east wall. The green men in Rosslyn symbolise the months of the year in progression from East to West in the Chapel. Young faces are seen in the East symbolising Spring and as we progress towards the setting sun in the West the carvings age as in Autumn of man’s years. There are in excess of 110 carvings of Green men in and around the Chapel.

The most famous myth however is that it is a repository for either the Holy Grail, or the treasure of the Knights Templar.

I’ve decided to take up gardening in our new home and would like to spruce up the curb appeal. What kinds of plants should I incorporate into my New England garden that would withstand the climate? I would also like input on a pretty flowering bush that would be relatively low-maintenance. (I’m fine with trimming, but prefer a bush that doesn’t need constant trimming!) Also I would appreciate input on a bush/tree that might work well for privacy? Our yard is not very private, and I would prefer plants instead of a fence for privacy.

Right now, I have one lilac bush and a few daffodils, however I’m trying to get rid of the daffodils (I have infant triplets and two dogs who are in the yard often, and I’m afraid they will injest them – the triplets may come in contact with them as they get older). Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi.

It will depend on the zone in which you live. You will need to research that first. I listed a good site to help you do that.

Once you know the zone, then decide what you want. Flowering bushes are great, and are showy in spring or early summer (azaleas etc.) Lillies are amazing, when planted in bunches along the fence or walkways. Vinca (perrywinkle) is an awesome ground-cover and is pretty hardy, but so is phlox. Butterfly bushes and sage are beautiful as well. The longer you have any of these plants in your garden, the more lush they become. And of course,t here are the roses.

The best advice though will come from your local nursery (Lowes or Home Depot tend to be very general and therefore may not be your best option). Your local nursery can show you what to grow as well as when, where, and how.

Good luck!!

I am looking for any cases of witch hunts that happened after 1958, and excluding the Salem witch trials?? Anything cases or information would help.

How about within the past several years?

I want to take my kids to see the fireworks they have at the "I Love America" celebration in Springfield, MO but I don’t want to fight the crowds. Does anyone LOCAL know the best place to watch from town?

On TV.

I have 3 young kids who want to go to the beach on Spring break, but i don’t want to get caught up with all the college kids in Myrtle or Virgina Beach.I need it to have fairly inexpensive hotels too. I also Live in Ny and don’t want to go to far south. VIrgina would be ideal but I might be able to handle going to the Northern part of North Carolina too!

My family went to Virginia Beach last year. It was extremely quiet, we stayed with a realty co. named Sandbridge Realty…seemed like a pretty private area, and about 20 min. away from all the hub bub. We also have 3 young children and are from New York…check it out and good luck!!!
